KINGSVILLE, TX — As it marks a century of service to South Texas, Texas A&M University–Kingsville (TAMUK) is launching a new partnership with BibliU to modernize campus retail operations and introduce Day 1 access.
A Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) where more than 70% of students identify as Hispanic—many of them first-generation college students—TAMUK is strengthening its commitment to delivering affordable, student-centered education. Transitioning from a legacy bookstore provider, the University has adopted a flexible, digital-forward model designed to remove financial and logistical barriers to academic success.
The cornerstone of this partnership is BibliU Access, which ensures students have required textbooks and courseware delivered directly through Blackboard before the first day of class. By meeting students where they already learn, the approach reflects the evolving expectations of today’s learners and ensures all are prepared to succeed from Day 1.
BibliU Access uses a per-course variable pricing model, enabling students to pay only for the materials required for their classes, with costs charged alongside tuition to streamline billing and help reduce the overall cost of attendance. This program will remove financial and logistical barriers while supporting TAMUK’s commitment to expanded access and student success.
“TAMUK has a proud history of breaking new ground—it was the first in Texas to offer a doctoral program in bilingual education,” said Dave Sherwood, CEO and Co-founder of BibliU. “That same spirit of innovation drives this partnership. We aren’t just delivering books; we are delivering a level playing field. By ensuring students have their materials on Day 1 regardless of their financial background, we are giving every Javelina the best possible chance to thrive.”
The partnership also includes the modernization of the TAMUK Campus Store, reimagined as a community hub to reflect the University’s long-standing culture of friendliness and inclusion. Working closely with campus stakeholders, BibliU will manage a highly tailored retail experience—both in-store and online—designed to better serve customers while supporting broader institutional priorities.
In addition to course materials, the campus store will offer updated merchandise, course kits, and branded apparel, with increased engagement through a presence at Javelina Stadium and pop-up shops for campus events. The updated model creates opportunities for collaboration across departments, allowing the campus store to function as a resource that complements student services and community engagement efforts.
“We were closely aligned with BibliU in our shared goal of supporting student success. Their team took the time to listen to our needs and develop solutions that met our expectations,” said Brent McAfee, Senior Manager of Business Operations at Texas A&M University–Kingsville. “This partnership represents an important step forward as we continue to enhance how students access learning resources, while also expanding our bookstore offerings to better serve our campus community.”
