North Carolina — BibliU, the fastest growing campus store and course materials provider, announces new partnerships with Central Carolina Community College, Mitchell Community College, and Southwestern Community College. With these additions, BibliU now partners with 13 institutions across the North Carolina Community College System, effective Summer Term 2026.
The partnerships reflect growing momentum across the North Carolina Community College System as institutions modernize campus retail and course material delivery. While moving away from legacy models, colleges are prioritizing solutions that improve affordability, simplify operations, and ensure students have access to course materials by the first day of class.
Through BibliU, each institution will combine managed campus store operations with course material delivery, including direct LMS integration, upgraded physical and online retail experiences, and more flexible course material programs designed to better support students, faculty, and institutional needs.
"North Carolina's community colleges are leading a fundamental rethink of how campus retail and course materials should work, not alongside students, but for them,” said Dave Sherwood, CEO and Co-founder of BibliU. “Reaching 13 institutions across the state reflects a growing recognition that affordability, Day 1 access, and fiscal sustainability aren't competing priorities. With the right partner, they're all achievable."
Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) is partnering with BibliU, replacing a more traditional model managed by a legacy vendor. Affordability and student outcomes drove the decision to explore alternatives, with the college estimating this collaboration will collectively save students hundreds of thousands of dollars annually.
The transition focuses on several core improvements:
"CCCC is excited to partner with BibliU to offer our students top-notch service, the best available learning materials at an affordable price, and enhanced digital access and connectivity to continue delivering a first-class learning opportunity," said Drew Goodson, Associate VP, Financial Services & CFO at CCCC.
Mitchell Community College (MCC) is transitioning from an in-house bookstore to a BibliU-run model, a strategic shift driven by mounting challenges under its legacy approach.
As its own operator, MCC absorbed all inventory risk, including large upfront costs and freight expenses for non-returnable materials from canceled or under-enrolled courses, while specialized retail oversight pulled resources away from the college's core focus on instructional excellence and workforce development.
By partnering with BibliU, MCC aims to redirect those resources back toward student success. Key areas of focus include:
Southwestern Community College (SCC) is transitioning campus store operations to BibliU while introducing a flat-fee, per-credit-hour course materials model designed to improve affordability, simplify access, and strengthen the student experience. The initiative supports SCC's commitment to ensuring students have access to required materials from the first day of class while maintaining faculty flexibility in course material selection.
The transition focuses on several core improvements:
“We are partnering with BibliU to modernize our campus store and streamline course material accessibility,” said Dr. Barbara Putman, SCC's Executive Vice President for Instruction & Student Services. "Students having course materials available at the start of classes is key to their success. The BibliU team shares our focus on student success and making materials available and affordable while retaining faculty flexibility in selecting quality, current course materials to support learning."
BibliU's growing North Carolina presence reflects broader momentum across the community college system as institutions seek modern, mission-aligned alternatives to legacy models.
BibliU is the only vertically integrated campus store and course materials partner combining proprietary digital technology, innovative access programs, flexible billing, and end-to-end retail operations under one unified model.
